i hope i wont always be sad when i look at all these pictures, i miss being there terribly. it certainly was some of the best 10 days of my life, to spend it on the beach in paradise, with all of my family, was priceless.
one evening we decided to take a drive to hookipa, a beach that is famous for surfing and windsurfing. it is on the other side of the island where the waves are much larger. we planned on just watching the surfing, but were pleasantly surprised by a large pod of whales just off the shore. the whole time we were in maui, we were always looking at the water to try to spot the spray from the whales.
cooper and mom. aaron was kindly sitting in the car with a sick carson. he had a fever and had fallen asleep in the drive over.

the condo’s where we stayed had a couple of pools, and after we spent the morning playing in the ocean, they often wanted to swim in the pools in the afternoon. we seemed to get in trouble every time the kids went swimming, some of our neighbors didn’t really appreciate the sweet sounds of our children having fun:(
carson started putting his life jacket on like a diaper, it looked super funny, but it really did help him float and the vest wasn’t pushing up on his chin. the other kids soon followed him as well. i am sure our little pool of diaper wearing swimmers must have looked terribly funny.

after this much playing everyday, these kids were easy as pie to get to sleep each night. too bad the parents were just as tired and crashed right after.
we spent one afternoon at the aquarium, the kids loved seeing all the fish that live in the waters off of the island. a lot of the little kids didn’t go snorkeling, so it was fun to let them see what fish were out there.
coop finally got brave enough to put his hands in the water. the other kids were feeling starfish.
