First Day of School

The first day was actually a week ago, but it seems we are still running behind. The girls were so excited! They were happy with teachers, they had the proper amount of friends in their classes, and they were rather tired of hanging out with a boring and somewhat grouchy mom.

I wish every morning could be like the first day of school. My kids sprang from their beds and actually made the beds after they got out. I was up and ready, so my children had a mother who was alert, rather than wandering around in a coma.

Someone had the camera on the wrong setting at the school for the "sit in your new desk" photo.

Carson was a little bummed that he didn't start school the same day that the big sisters did. He was so excited to see all his little friends again. He was a little nervous for a few minutes, but he warmed right up. When I picked him up he reassured me that "it was so fun!"

There were no tears from the mom. I think I really am going to enjoy my three afternoons a week all to myself!

A day at the Lake...

We decided to spend one of our last days of summer swimming and playing in the sand. We went with one of my good friends that happens to have kids the very same ages as mine. It was so cute, they each paired up with a buddy and played for hours. It was so hard to get any good pictures of them, as they didn't want to stop and look at me for long enough to get a face shot.

These boys kept running out as deep in the water as they dared, to fill up the buckets, and then they would run into the sand to pour the water out. They started out pretty timid, but then they got brave and we had to put on the life vests.

I am so sad that this was our first trip to the lake. My kids LOVED it and would have loved to do it over and over all this summer. We will have to do much better next summer. For now it is back to school on Monday.

Corn on the Cob

I wish my children would eat all vegetables as well as they eat corn on the cob. I love that we can have it with every meal this time of year. Today, Carson came running into the house and grabbed a big bowl. I unfortunately know what that means. I asked him what he was going to pick in the garden, and he replied "pruits and vegables." He loves to pick green tomatoes, green peppers the size of a marble, and flat peas.

He decided to pick corn instead today. I don't think he has ever done it before, and I didn't help him. I was pretty impressed with how he did though. He kept singing "corny,corny,corny..." Over and over again.

This is what we came up with. I love the extra long handles he left on some of them!!

Happy Birthday Morgan!!

It is birthday time at this house, and this time it is Morgan's turn! Since it is #10, we are going for our top ten things we love about Miss Morgan.

1. This lady is helpful, she is always willing to help out!

2. She is always looking for something to make or do, she hates to be bored, especially sitting around watching a movie.

3. She remembers everything she has ever heard- she is a pretty good resource to have around.

4. She is starting to become a great babysitter. We have left her while I run to the doctor, or go visiting teaching, and she does really well.

5. She loves to cook- we do a lot of cooking, and she is starting to make quite a few things all by herself! Pretty soon, I might be able to assign her a certain night if the week, and I'll have the night off!

6. She loves to make people happy, especially her parents. (I wonder is this will still be the same when she turns 14 or so??)

7. She is a really great sister.

8. She wants to be a good friend- I realize you can't possibly be a ten year old girl and have that always happen- but she tries really hard.

9. She is responsible. If you ask her to do it, pretty good chances it is going to get done.

10. That long red hair- even though I wish I could fix it better, I wouldn't change it for anything!!
Happy Birthday Morgan!!

It's a boy!

Just thought we would pass on a little news. In December we are expecting baby #4. We are excited, and maybe a bit overwhelmed! We found out today it is going to be another little brother, and Carson could not be happier. He started jumping up and down when we confirmed it was a brother, and not a sister coming his way. I hope to return to blogging again when school is in, and we are on a schedule, and life slows down a little bit- I have so very much to catch up on!!!!!

Happy Birthday Paige!

This little lady turned 7 today! As I think back seven years ago, it has gone so fast. Paige was the kind of baby that you want to never grow up! She was patient, happy, slept like a rock, barely cried...such a sweety! Here we are years later, and lucky for me a lot of those things have not changed.
My favorite things about Paige...she is mellow...she is sweet...she makes friends so easily...she is funny (she really makes us laugh!)...she has a very tender heart...she can be a tomboy and a girly girl...she loves nature and to be outside...with enough sleep (so important for her) she is quite happy and pleasant...and, I must say I love the curly hair and freckles!!
I would love to post some pictures of her special day, but I had to give her the batteries out of my camera. What kind of mom gives her daughter a new toy with no batteries?

Cousin fun..

A few days before we were supposed to leave town to enjoy a cabin with all the family, we decided to take the kids to Blast-off, so the 3 mom's and the grandma could make a very long grocery list to feed all 17 of us for 5 days. We figured the kids would play, and the ladies could get all of the meal planning done.

The big kids and Uncle Shae played a little golf. It got a little reckless and crazy when Zach and Carson decided to join in the fun.

Carson wanted tokens so bad, and when we finally hooked him up with some, him and Zach decided to play Skee-ball (I think that is what they call that game??)! It was rather dangerous, I don't think it is recommended to throw the balls overhand for this particular game. We were running everywhere to catch balls that he threw, and then bounced off the cage. I tried to help him, but he really wanted to try it all by himself. I am so glad it was a slow day, and we didn't injure anyone.

They had so much fun, I only wish they had cousins around all the time to play with!!
